Got this old rod and reel from my dad, just put line on it but can figure out how to remove the spool to soak it. Anyone able to tell me how i can do that? My google searches were unsuccessful, markings on the reel: Abu Garcia, Cardinal, Maxxar, Ultra Cast.

Try holding down the button on the top. That might be the release
If not try holding it down and unscrewing the spool
