Aquariums: Did someone say “tannins”?

I put in 3 pieces of mopani wood into my 30 gallon and it was the same color. I didn’t soak the wood in a bucket or anything.

Water changes and carbon will very slowly take out some of the color. Mine is still a light brown color after 4 months, but my tetras and gourami love it 😂.
