I recently posted a gear picture and received some helpful feedback. After doing a bit more research, I realized I had mistakenly paired my Shimano SLX with a spinning rod. Oops!

Since then, I’ve made a few adjustments. I swapped out the spinning rod for one of my Shimano Stradics, and the setup feels much more balanced and comfortable now.

A lot of the advice I received also emphasized the importance of pairing good reels with equally good rods. So, I upgraded a bit. Now, I’ve got my Stradic 4000 mounted on a Westin W3 Ultrastick 7’ (15-40g, 2nd gen), and it’s working like a dream.

For my Shimano SLX, I paired it with an Abu Svartzonker Classic Motoroil Heavy Lure (8’10, 40-140g), and I’m really happy with how it handles heavier lures.

Lastly, I still have my lightweight Lightning Rod paired with another Stradic, but I might consider upgrading that rod in the future.

Thanks again for all the tips! Any feedback on these setups is always welcome.
