Can anyone identify based on this picture what killed my hilly!? The night before he had a pinkish red area at the base of his tail and by the end of work the next day he was already gone and looked like this. Kind of new to aquariums but I thought I had considered all the correct requirements for these guys. Thanks in advance for any help

Thats a new one for me. Usually the red spots are possible signs of ammonia or bacterial injuries. Is that his skin missing on his spine? Sorry cant tell if its a specific species feature or not.
