One of the craziest recurring experiences I have in all of fly fishing is just how close you can catch a massive coho from the beach. This year I hooked one in less than 2 feet of water. So cool.
And yes, beach coho is amazing! Just gotta put in the time and energy to build those skills, but once you do the pay off is just so worth it. Catching a hungry, aggressive migratory salmon on a 6 wt in the salt? Nothing compares to that experience.
