So…if it were only the rod in the truck probably not, but that object next to it, or any others in the truck bed, could easily shift and hit that rod, and that likely will cause damage or even a break.

I put a heavy wool sock over the end of my rod and reels if they have to go in a trunk. Keeps them from getting scratched up.

if thats a truck bed just stick a foot of the rods out the back thats all i do

I recommend you put it in the passenger seat. I only got a 4ft bed in my truck, and fish mostly with one piece rods, so they live in the passenger seat
