Looks like it was put on loose. When you spool braid you have to add some tension and spool it on tight.

Wasn’t originally spooled with enough tension. As you fished, the outer layers tightened up on it and squeezed it into what you’re seeing. If you spool under tension it should help this and the wind knots themselves

Wasn’t spooled on tightly enough, next time make sure there’s lots of tension as you’re spooling it up.
