I got him some plants the other day, and got dirt for those plants, so the water clouded up. I did a water change and will continue doing water changes every couple of days until it looks clearer but wanted to check and make sure he doesn't have any visible signs of problems developing while it's clearing up.

He looks beautiful to me I love his shade of blue. I’m too new to tell you for sure, so please take my advice with a grain of salt. I suspect they can handle cloudy water from something natural like soil, especially if it was not treated with anything else (eg you used aquarium or top soil) .
On the second picture, his right eye, is the lighter color just his scales? Or does it look a bit puffy/bulging to you?
