I wanted to post up my favorite, tried and true Sunfish lures. When I say Sunfish I'm referring to Black bass, Crappie, Rock bass, Warmouth, Bluegill, Green sunfish, and Longear Sunfish.

These baits catch me fish almost everytime I go out. If I don't catch anything with these, I'm either not in a good spot or the fish are really inactive. Need to catch a fish? Try some of these. They catch fish big and small.

I love finesse type lures. So I have a few small stick style baits that work good as ned type rigs. They can be dragged, hopped, swam, and jiggled. Do each until the fish tell you what you want. I've caught crappie on a ned rig and the tiny fluke and bass on a bobby garland baby shad. I'll rig these baits on a 1/16oz jighead or if cover is heavy I'll texas rig them with a #1 ewg and a small worm weight.

If I need to cover water and find fish I love a beetle spin, underspin jighead, or small crankbaits. Beetle spins work great with the jig heads and small baits and grubs I'm already carrying. Small cranks like the rebel crickhopper or rebel wee craw (not pictured) work great cranked or twitched on top. Bluegill will readily take a crickhopper.

The Rapala jointed minnow and original floating minnow are also awesome jerk/topwater lures. These come in many sized but I like the F05 and F07. These have caught me many bass and some big bluegill too. Twitch them on top, walk the dog, or send them down and jerk them around.

All these lures have been mainstays for me for years. They can all by thrown on light-medium rods with spinning or spincast reels. 4-8lb monofilament will get the job done. Many lures can be retrieved in multiple fashions. If I had a piece of advice for all lures though is to slow down. A nice slow retrieve will get it done.

Well I really hope I can help some of you catch a few more fish. I love this sport and I hope to see you all out on the water some day. Tight lines, and take a kid fishing!

I usually just use a small spinner with a piece of worm for all those fish… I mean I never target them specifically but when they’re around and they only thing biting then spinner and worm piece slays

I like using split shot and a worm on a size 10 hook. bass like it too, especially with a little bit of jigging action.
