This is my first year with my little boat and i’ve really been enjoying fishing the lake!
I had some pretty successful days in the summer, usually catching an average of 4 smallmouth around the 2lb range over the course of a couple hours , using senkos (watermelon with cream), chatterbaits & football jigs in a few different colours, and an under spin minnow type lure.
It was awesome, best after work activity ever.
The fall weather has put a kink in the line, my typical spots have not produced for two weeks now, i have only had success at the rear of “third island”, which has a large drop off and a very strong weed line that leads to a boulder pile within the chanel, which from what I gather is an ideal spot for bass in the fall. I have caught 1 maybe 2 bass on the jig and under spin minnow here just before sunset recently, which took a lot of casting.
I also typically look for boils of baitfish (which usually seem to be bountiful in the marked areas) and cast in and around them, sometimes something bites but i guess nothing big enough to fit the lure in its mouth. what gives? are they really this stubborn in the fall or do i should i just expand my search area.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
(i’ll add the water quality is basically always very clear, probably 10-15 feet of visibility)
