I've had to exchange 4 reels in the past 2 weeks because I've had faulty items, I really would hate to have to send this back to my local Cabela's because I'm sure they're sick of me at the return desk

You have a water hellcat, it’s just the braking system, it’s supposed to sound like that

Edit: also learn how to set it up, it needs set differently for different weight baits and lures, there should be 3 different settings on there that need tuned periodically depending on what you’re throwing. YouTube is a great resource

  2. I’ll go against the grain here and say this isn’t normal. I don’t have a tatula but that’s pretty dang loud. My zillions don’t make 1/10 that much noise. To me it sounds like a spool bearing is spun or somehow imbalanced.

Does it make that noise on a fast retrieve or only while casting?

Dunk it in the water next time see if it goes away. If it goes away you know you gotta lube it up b. Have had this happen with tatulas before.

  4. A tatula I bought last year sounded similar out of the box and when I opened it up it looked like there was no grease or oil from the factory. After I added some it sounded perfectly fine. I feel like if something major was wrong the spool wouldn’t spin that consistently and it would cast noticeably short
