Been using this lil notch (circled) as a way to store my hook/lure and keep my setup together. Going to reline it and i was curious if im supposed to feed the line through there? Ive seen videos of people having theres setup like that so idk. Rod casted fine without it

You’re using it correctly it’s a hook keeper.
That’s a hook keeper. You’ve been using it for its intended purpose – a place to stow your lure when you’re not using the rod.
Don’t feed your line through it – it’ll damage the line and bugger up your cast performance.
