i saw him at the pet store the other day and love him! i had to get things set up, so there’s a chance he won’t be there when i go back tomorrow, but hoping so. (last photo taken on my friend’s camera, hence the difference in the lighting)

Based on the post, it sounds like you are setting up the tank the day before you intend to get him. This means you will have to do a fish in cycle. Please research this thoroughly and make sure you are prepared to take it on.
If not, you may want to wait to get him and do a fishless cycle.
Either way, do yourself a favor and get an API master test kit and don’t bother with test strips. This will help you have accurate readings on your water parameters.
