I'm completely new to flyfishing and I was wondering if this inherited rod is of any value or if it's an acceptable rod to learn with. Thank you!

  1. Eagle Claw isn’t what I’d call high end,
But you want to learn, and you have a rod? Why not? Put an 8wt floating line on it and go learn how to double haul. I learned on a beat up old rod. I decided I liked fly fishing, kept practicing, and eventually upgraded.

  2. Display that relic and go buy a cheap rod, decent reel were you can get extra affordable spols, and a premium flyline.
It will be easier to learn, better to fish with and you wont risk breaking your inherited rod 😄
