So I've never used these on bettas I've had in the past. I'd never heard of it. But when I did I got some. Is it normal for them to turn the water darker? Does that mean it's too much or is that okay? I didn't even put a whole big leaf in there.

My light is not on full brightness in this picture so that does add to the darkness a little. But even with it on full brightness there is clearly a brownish tinge to the water.
Yep completely normal and actually a good thing! The darkness comes from Tannins that leak out the leaf, these tannins help make the water more soft and acidic for the betta. Good job!
