    A warning to anyone else breaking down a tank with sand or gravel base. If you have Bristlenose or Corries in the tank they will bury themselves in the gravel. It happened to me with a large Bristlenose and a big female Corrie. I didn't find them until I started to scoop out the gravel 🙂 They were fine when I got them into the holding tubs and they are still going strong back in the repaired tank none the worse for wear 🙂 I also found a Kuhli Loach I hadn't seen in five years and thought it had died. It is back in the tank and I haven't seen it since 🙂

    I think a sand + gravel + pebbles pathway in the middle void will look really good. The floating branches actually looks really good though, try to keep them like this.

    @mdfishtanks , how long do you keep your old substrate? The old aquasoil, gravel and rocks in your tub before you decide to toss it?

    Thanks for the videos mate. Maybe you could build two aquariums that are connected with a tube/tunnel? With different landscapes so that the fish can change habitats as they wish. Cheers!

    4:00 – Hellanthium are related to Echinodorus, still under one plant family in some languages, but not in Latin classification. They just need little more light being short.
