I've recently picked up fishing again, had to go for a quick and basic rod since I couldn't find my old ones. So I picked up this:

In a 7' configuration.
It comes with 0.25mm line attached, no stated weight on it, but judging from the website it's rated for 4.5KG.
I was thinking about switching the line to a 0.4mm from the same manufacturer that I got in a tackleset i also got. This is rated for 10.2KG.
I'm just wondering if this seems like a worthless thing to do, and instead just attach it as a leader? I don't catch very heavy fish, and not very toothy either. I just like to feel more safe in case i put a lure into some stupid kelp in the ocean, then there's a chance I can get it loose by hand.
