I am a very novice Flyfisher, and I’m just looking for tips as I begin this journey. I took my 8 1/2 foot, five weight rod out to an inlet channel of this peninsula – I used a Willy bugger and a couple light poppers for most of the nights, casting them out as far as I could (mostly successfully) and then slowly stripping in. The poppers I tried to target the edges and lily pads more. I caught a couple blue gill, and it was a beautiful night (so I’m not complaining). But, I just want to learn what I could have done differently to catch more.
Next time, I’m going to wade out into some of the lagoons and bigger bays that exist here to try and exploit other areas and species.
