I have two beagles, both of which are great dogs, but they are also typical hounds. Poor recall, not great with water, and will disappear to follow a scent and not return until the source is discovered. The only negative I can think of with these two awesome dogs is that I cannot take them fishing with me. They are good for the hike, but once we slow down to fish holes, they are sniffers and start hunting.
That being said, what kind of dogs do you have? Do you take them fly fishing? How are they in the boat, on the bank, and overall for a half-day jaunt to the river?
