Don’t know how to word this so I can’t find the answer anywhere. I need to take the reel off my rod. But I am afraid the line will unravel. There is a small hook on the side but doesn’t seem to hold the line well. Am I missing something? I tied a small knot but don’t trust it.

You did it fine. Sometimes those little line holder things get loose and don’t give a satisfying “click” when the line is attached to it, but the line won’t unravel with how you did it.
