My son with a little fatty of a smallmouth from April. I don’t think it has a lot of length, but it’s thick for a river fish. Sadly, a few weeks after he took this pic, he broke his leg and couldn’t fish for most of the spring/summer.

I think that’s a bonito. Great catch from the surf!
Much cooler fish that a false albacore imo
