Yes that is a bluegill. Though bluegills are just species under the Sunfish family like pumpkin seeds and rock bass. Great panfish!! Gut it and de scale it then put a little salt then sear it whole. Tastes good!!

That’s a nice fat bluegill, huge fan of going out for panfish. My set up is use is the ugly stick rock crusher or crawler. I cant remember the specific name of it. It’s a 4’9″ pole and it makes the lil fish seem like SHARKS dude. Super fun if you’re just going out to catch some baitfish and dont mind the waits in between catches. Lil bobber and hook, toss a night crawler on it and bam ur in business.

I caught a bunch of these guys, but much smaller, this week. I’m in Houston though so I’m kind of afraid to eat anything I pull out of the water here.
