They were labeled apistos and the guy said this was a male and female but I can’t find a good match online to what exact type of apisto they are

  1. Likely macmasteri, small chance it’s viejita. The species are almost imposible to tell apart but from what I have read most fish sold as viejita are mislabeld macmasteri’s. For either species if you want to optimise breeding them the water should be soft and acidic (pH below 7) if it isn’t they either don’t breed our have less fry.

    In my opinion these are some off the pretiest apistogramma’s. They also have a more robust build (especially older males get some height) that resembles bigger cichlids.
