They have their adipose fins, they don’t have their tails clipped, their fins aren’t worn down, and they aren’t scuffed up. That’s how most stocked trout look.

Some of them might get scuffed, and some of them have their fins worn down from other fish nipping at them but most of them make it out

Highly recommend you go tour your local hatchery if they allow it. And keep the trout you catch if you’re in a hatchery supported area. You’re literally paying for the fish anytime you buy gear or fill up your boat.

    People over think stocked vs natural. When stocked fish hold over, they naturalize and spawn as normal. People give them shit because they look “boring” well they are raised on pellets.. give them 6 months with natural water and forage. They look the same. If you rush down to the local bridge on stock day, that’s on you lol.
