Bought a new spinning reel recently and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t making this popping noise that you can hear at the beginning and end of the video. What’s weird is that is doesn’t make it when it’s pointed downwards but it does if I point upwards. From what I notice everything is working fine but any popping noise on a reeling mechanism is not a good sign, right? Could it be that it just needs lubing?

Check to see if your rotor is loose. Take the spool off and at the base of the shaft there should be a nut. If the rotor seems to be loose, try to tighten the nut.
That sounds as good as anyone would expect from a $20 reel.
