See pic above – I’ve been floating fishing for carp all summer but today got the carp rods and bite alarms out. I’ve always had success fishing PVA bags and was happy to find I’d pre-tied 2 last time out so put them on the rods and got settled.
After a couple of line bites and no action despite fish showing I wound one in to replace the bag and found the hook point had snapped off. Weird, but could happen.
What was really strange is that I then wound the other rod in and found that this hook had also had the point snapped off!!
Does anyone have any idea as to why this could happen? Maybe something acidic in the bag mix to make it PVA safe? I’ve been scratching my head all day!! 35 years of carp fishing and never seen anything like this!
