This is a river in southwestern Ontario. In the city. It a few seconds into the video I pan to a little calm spot off to the side that I saw 3-4 large catfish in yesterday. I saw them feeding off the top so I tried my 75 whopper plopper because I'm very new and was trying to fish for bass when I saw this spot and figured I'd give it a few casts. Nothin.

Also did a Texas rigged soft plastic worm to no avail, just hopping it up and down.

Came back today with a Carolina rig that just consisted of a small brass bullet sinker, a swivel, a circle hook and a little bit of hot dog. I tried casting it and let it sit for 5 mins each time because I couldn't really see under the water cuz it had just rained.

Didn't get any bites in the short time I had to fish.

Should I be trying something else? Or just give the hot dog more time? I see them feeding at the top but no topwaters I throw seem to interest them even if it goes right over em.

Appreciate any help I'd like to catch my first catfish 🙂

Stick to hot dog. If not work use liver and some night crawlers. Bait just need to be stinky and bit bloody or wiggly for catfish

i’d throw some chicken liver on a circle hook, u can also throw those hotdogs in some koolaid w some garlic powder. Either of those once u throw them just let it sit

  3. The last time I was out I took a chicken breast cut up into chunks and caught more on a rod than my buddy running liver and shiners on a dozen jugs…
Granted I only caught 2 to his 1…
