Do y’all store your lures with their soft plastic trailers?

I know they won’t last forever, but is it worth keeping them on to make them last longer?

  1. I store them with the trailer if they already have one on. I do not pre-rig them and put them away that way.

If those are z man trailers, absolutely take them off, the elaztec/super stretchy plastic lures like that will melt both themselves and the tackle box.

If the trailers are salt impregnated, they’ll rust the hook. If they’re Elaztech (Z-Man), they’ll melt your other plastics they come in contact with

Berkley is using TPE (Elaztech) now. Be careful reading labels

If they’re PVC lures that can take a lot of damage from being taken off the hook I just leave them because I don’t want to split the nose of the lure. But if it’s a TPE like Z man Elaztech or Savage Gears Duratech I take it off because it can react with plastics and cause some funky shit.

If they’re gonna be in a very very dry place a little bit of scented oil or worm oil is alright but it’s probably not needed.
