Yes. You did good. Buy a nice Weight Forward Floating line and a 7 1/2 foot tapered leader to 5x and you can fish 95% of the western US

I learned to fly fish on the 6wt version of that rod. I no longer use it because most of my fishing is now on smaller waters, but it’s still a good rod.
