Our LFS had this little guy for quite a long time! But we finally were ready to snatch him up with our last batch of adding fish to our new planted tank that finished cycling a few weeks ago, and he came home with a Sunset Honey Gourami to join the Rummynose Tetras and Mystery Snail we had settled in. He is still a bit shy now, but we hope he gets a bit more comfortable in the coming days! 🤞🏻

Our LFS even sent me home with a Zebra Pleco sticker that I put on my planner. 🥰

I’m debating between the names Beetlejuice and Sandworm, because I love the Beetlejuice franchise.

Any advice on how to make him as comfortable and happy as possible would be great! He has tons of hiding spots, but I’m hoping he starts to come out a bit more like the ones I’ve seen on here.

  1. Hate to break this to you. That is not a zebra pleco. Most likely a leopard frog pleco. Hopefully you didn’t pay zebra pleco prices for it

  2. Leopard frog plecos will want to eat meaty foods like blood worms and brine shrimp. I had a breeding colony for years and they loved rapashy gel food. I used the “community plus”, “grub pie”, and “spawn and grow” formulas. Any of those three would be good to use. Yours looks a little on the skinny side so make sure you are getting it the foods it likes to eat. Do some research on leopard frog care. There is plenty of it out there and on YouTube. These are one of my favorite plecos to keep. Very beautiful but, just not a zebra pleco
