I’ve had this tank for about a year now, and I’m really dissatisfied with it.
It’s a 54 liter (14-15gal) tank with anubias barteri, anubias barteri nana (I think) foxtail/hornwort, java moss and water lettuce.

For the plants I was thinking of adding some monte carlo, tiger lotus and maybe ludwigia repens.
But honestly it all just looks like a mess, please help

  1. I’d trim back on the water level, floating plants. They are so dense no light is getting through. And could be improved with some hardscape. Some rocks or branches, something to bring in a third color other than green and sand. More hardscape would make it look more like a pocket environment rather than a tank.

It looks beautiful with the plants, but also lacking contrast and depth. I’d definitely add hardscape! Anything out of; driftwood, spiderwood, dark vertical slate, pebbles, smaller stones, dragonstone, etc.

Oh, and put a black background on the back of the tank to make the colours pop and to help hide the equipment
