Going to be throwing mainly 1/2oz-1oz lures. Maybe a few 1/4oz as well. May go up to a 1 1/2oz at inlets during rough weather. Wanted to go with an 8’ rod but they’re all much heavier surf rods for the 5000 (3/4oz-2oz).

My main concern is the 7’ rod and it being a boat rod with the shorter handle. I’ll be casting a lot while my other rods are bait soaking. Plan is to tie on 20lb-30lb braid. May want to bait soak a bit with it as well and there lies my concerns with the smaller rod really… on the other hand, it’d be nice to have something I can do far casts with on the boat inshore as well.

Other rods are 2- fierce 8000’s and a spinfisher 6500 so definitely want the lighter, smaller 5000. East coast fishing.

To be clear I’m looking at the 7’ rated at 1/2-1 1/2oz with a 5000 reel. Link doesn’t have that pre set.
