Was going after panfish with a size 20 no see um midge. Caught plenty but the fly was sinking pretty bad by the end. Would a powder desiccant be better for a small dry fly like this?
It’s sinking because of the fish slime getting on it, at that is what the dry shake is for – resetting the fly after it gets slimed on. Shake it in the dry and then redress with your gel or liquid floatant. It’s good for small flies and big ones.
