The ceramic inserts in my line guide cracked and ruined my line. How do I stop that from happening

I put my rods on top of my car and when I got to the fishing spot I fished for a bit and lost 2 lures. turns out my line was getting destroyed by the broken ceramic guide. How do I prevent them from cracking. it's the first time this has happened. I'm going to return the rod to get one in good condition
