I bought my first spinning rod and reel combo maybe 5 months ago it came pre spooled with 8lb Braid. I believe it's come time to re-spool the reel so I took the remainder 8lb Braid off. It seems there so some other kind of line that was spooled underneath the Braid and now I'm super confused 😕 anyone have any info?

A lot of people use mono backing to keep the braided line from slipping on the spool. It also fills up the spool some so you use less braided line to fill the spool.
