She was talking about getting a bigger tank for him so I will probably do that here soon. Right now the tank is pretty dirty. I’ve been keeping the water level filled up and using the water conditioner but besides that I have no clue how to get this aquarium up to regulation codes or what I’m supposed to be doing 😭 she cared a lot about the beta fish and it’s the last thing I have of her so I’d like to get the tank in best possible condition .

It actually looks to be in pretty good shape.
When cleaning, just change 20% of the water and scrub the algae off the sides. For the love of god do not touch your filter.
If you want to get a bigger tank do it, but I don’t think it is necessary. If you do decide to get a bigger tank, please invest in a tank stand as that bookshelf is quite scary.
If it were my tank I would take out the plastic decor and spend the money for a larger tank on more plants instead.
