Just went out fishing for the first time today but got nothing. What should I expect if i got some fish? i’m at upstate NY. Also, What are and how do I use those white and red balls?

  1. Just about ANY species will take a spoon or spinner. Bass, Catfish (if they are actively hunting), trout, bluegill, crappie, maybe even a carp. Carp is unlikely…they prefer breadballs or corn, but it is not outside the realm of possibility. Those bright guys are bobbers, used for suspending baits at a specific depth and then as an indicator of bites. Useless with most lures, although you can use them with tiny plastic body jigs for bluegills or crappie if they are present at a specific depth.
