the pin fell out of my reel handle this weekend. I triaged with a twig. Is this a part I can buy or is the reel garbage now?

take the handle off and go to a hardware store, ask an employee where you can find small steel rods and then see which ones you can press fit in there, buy as much as you have to, snip it off/trim the ends, then file/sand the ends to smooth.
it sounds like a lot of steps, but it’s really not. this is less than 10 minutes of work
