Are you sure the neon wasn’t already dead and he found it and started munching ? I haven’t owned an ADF in a few years but I had remembered them always being terrible at grabbing food unless it was in front of their face let alone being able to catch a nano fish that’s quick

Mine once got hold of a female Betta and that I DID take off him. The smaller fish, meh… he’d eat them partially and I just didn’t feed the tank for a while until the other fish had eaten the leftovers 😂
