Found today on my beach walk, I assumed it was a some type of fishing lure? Anyone know? It was surprisingly heavy. I threw it in a nearby bin as it was on a popular walking route and didn’t want anyone injuring themselves.

  2. It’s a fishing weight made out of lead. That’s why it’s heavy. The legs help it dig into the sand and keep your bait in place while you fish.

    Sacrificial weight for fishing reef. When you hook a fish you hope that line breaks at the attachment point of the weight so you are only connected to your fish by line and single hook. This technique is used mainly when people are fishing for ulua in Hawaii using a slide bait technique
