First time using a fish finder. I've watched a lot of youtube videos including 1 cast 1 fish's 1 hour 36 minute tutorial on the garmin striker 4, but I can figure out how or why the marks are showing between 8 and 5 ft. Even when I went in deeper water (20 plus ft) they would show up. I've tried adjusting noise and tvg, and gain but couldn't get rid of it unless I manually set the gain down to 30 to 35%. Any idea what that is or what I'm doing wrong?

Boomerangs or arches is what your looking for and is fish
Transom mount or trolling motor? Change the 2d freq to 77khz and the downscan to 800khz. Any options to select which transducer is connected?
There is a setting in your fish finder that will put little fish pictures up on the arches the software thinks are fish.
I had the same issue until I changed the setting. It’s a night and day difference in ease of use
That’s the thermocline that develops in summer. There’s little oxygen in that area so concentrate on depths above that.
