So I cleaned out the reel, it helped a ton. However there is still a bit of grinding. I used gun oil instead of reel grease but Google told me it would work.
I believe it is that the gear that spins the spool isn’t seated properly, even though everything looks the exact same as the YouTube link below. Attached is a video of the problem.
It makes the same noise with the spool in, although much less
