If you’re from or around Erie, this is off of the south pier, for those not, the Channel is where Lake Erie goes into misery bay, in Erie PA. Fluctuates from a few ft deep to 20-25 ft maybe, Typical Lake Erie fish, goby, bluegill and the other panfish, perch, small and largemouth, sheephead, catfish, walleye, musky/pike. Was slaying back in May/June, didn’t fish much in July but the last few times I’ve went in August it’s been a struggle to catch anything, doesn’t matter what bait I throw or what time of day I go. Tried early morning, midday and later evenings, Tried everything from jigs with zoom trailers, Texas rigged plastic worms(weightless doesn’t work real well here), rattling crank bait, regular nightcrawlers on a smaller hook and weight, tried a ton of the youtube “guaranteed” bass methods, i don’t want to waste money buying shit that won’t catch a fish. I want at least 1 more largemouth before summer is over but I might catch a sheephead(most fun for the fight) and a few gobies and that’s about it. Most of my good catches have been from
the bottom but You’re more likely than not to get snagged and lose your setup, bottom is an absolute minefield of line breaking snags(mostly other peoples snags). Is it a bait problem? Technique problem? Should I change location entirely? Theres plenty of other places to fish in Erie this one is just the easiest and quickest to get to. I see people on Fishbrain getting all kinds of walleye and bass but I can’t seem to catch anything these last few trips. Any advice would be appreciated
