Forgive me for the long post, but here's some context:

I consistently caught fish this past weekend at the pond in a rural area about 20 miles from Dayton, Ohio at my in-law's. It rained nearly all of last week. The top water bite was consistent throughout the whole day even at 90-something degrees with intense sun…I skipped a scum frog over cover and got hit after hit.I also caught fish on a jig and on a roboworm. They were even blowing up a black frog when the sun went down. It's always fish after fish.

I try all sorts of baits and techniques around where I live in central Kentucky at the local ponds. I've fished the lake at the park, the creek, a small public pond near my neighborhood, and a pond at a nearby wildlife management area where you have to walk a half mile into the woods to even get to it.

I've only ever caught fish at the pond at the wildlife management area, (see the final 2 pictures) annd even then it took a lot of patience. I caught fish there on a roboworm and a weightless wacky worm. The other areas are pretty heavily fished, but I can't seem to get a nibble. And I've only ever seen 2 other people at the pond in the woods. I haven't gotten so much as a nibble on a frog and I usually walk away from the trip with nothing?

What kind of places should I look for if I want to be able to smash fish like at my in-law's pond. I don't expect it to be as good because I'm really the only person that fishes it, but I really hate thinking I'm doing something wrong and going to their pond and getting bites left and right. It makes me feel like I SHOULD be getting bites elsewhere. There is a pay lake close by, would I have luck on the bank from there? Would asking property owners to fish their ponds go well? Or should I keep trying the places I'm going to and just get better?

Any advice is appreciated.
