Recently I bought a Avet Mxl 5.8 Mc star drag for casting on my surf heaver rod. I took it out for the first time this morning and it casted beautifully with a 6 ounce weight. On my last cast of the day I set it to free spool and got ready to cast it out and when I slung it out there it only made it about 10 yards out in front of me. I didn’t hear any sounds of something snapping or something breaking when that happened it just came to a halt all of a sudden. I didn’t have the star drag tightened that much either but I was having a little trouble with the sensitivity of the tension knob but other than that all the setting on my reel were the exact same on how I was using it before. With it being a brand new reel and all and the first time being used I don’t think it was the bearing going out or anything (I do hear that is a problem in the smaller avets a few years back but that was on the lever drags). Any help would be greatly appreciated, I’ll keep tinkering with it for the time being but I’m guessing somehow either the drag was tightened to much and is stuck and if that’s the case I’d appreciate any advice of what sort of course of action is supposed to taken to fix that. In advance thank you
