i would buy a medium coarse intake sponge,
if you can find it with smaller gaps, better it will be.

I believe I may have had this exact same filter, and one of my cherry shrimp did get caught in it. No further issues after adding a sponge over the intake there. Good luck!

Once you have baby shrimp, they might get stuck, I had one stuck in there. You better assume that any small gap isn’t shrimp safe.
