How’s this baitcast setup?

New to reddit so I’m not sure how to properly body the main post. So I’ll put the description here.

I needed a new rod for my old Daiwa Triforce z 153iv that had seen some good use the last season I used it but was time to replace the rod. So I went and got a 7’0 Lew’s Xfinity Speed Stick that was on sale for $30. I put the daiwa reel on it and spooled it up with new 12 lb test Stren monofilament.

The reel is mechanically sound, though has some cosmetic things like some paint chipping on the reel handle and the line guide needs some oiling up, which I’m going to do this evening.  I use this for channel catfish up to 10 lbs and Utilize mostly hard plastics and bladed lures for bass. Will also slap a 3/0 or 4/0 EWG hook and catch live brim if I’m finding I just can’t catch anything on artificial(which is a large majority of the time) to use as bait to help keep me from getting skunked as far as bass go.

Overall so far it’s done pretty well. The reel like I said is an older reel, so it’s not going to perform quite like something say a Shimano SLT DC but it still gets the job done. I’m able to throw it with minimal backlashing issues.  I like the leverage this setup allows me to keep bass from making runs into thick weeds.
