Hello there! I went fishing many years ago as a kid but now that I have kids of my own I’d like to get back out there. I tried to do some research on YouTube and Reddit and came up with this. I will be attempting to fish trout out of the Truckee river in Nevada. My main questions are:
1) Are those barrel swivels the correct size for this rod/trout fishing? I had no idea there would be so many different sizes so I just went with my gut lol.
2) I then just attach the swivel to the line, and then the inline spinner to the swivel? That should be it?
3) On the inline spinners I do not use any bait correct? I just use the spinner itself?

That should be all of my questions for now but if you have any more advice/tips I’d love to hear them. I know I probably won’t be successful for a few fishing trips but the main thing is getting out on the water and spending time with the kiddos. Appreciate you all and have a great day!

I’m pretty new too, but I think some circle hooks or J hooks for rigging up live Baits wouldn’t be a bad idea

Ya the lure is meant to be used by itself. That rod should be able to handle trout. I personally recommend just to tie the line straight to the lure. Don’t use a swivel. They can be handy but in the future can create bad habits and you might lose the big dog one day because the swivel couldn’t handle it. But you can use the swivel if you’d like it’ll still work
