I just got a tank set up for a betta fish that I’m trying to let cycle. I bought a small pre-set heater for the tank as well as a thermometer. I can’t tell if the line denoting 80 degrees is the line above or below the number 80? Such a simple question I know, but I’m worried the heater isn’t working!

it’s the line below 80. you can tell because of the first line on the thermometer being below 40 if that makes sense
There is a thicker line under the number – thats your 80 👍
I will note that you might want to have a second thermometer to double check the temperature.
I have mixed experiences with these specific thermometers because it worked fine with my old tank, but when setting up my new one I got a new one that was a whole 20 degrees (F) off.
Just be careful lol
