Inherited a few old tackle boxes a year or two ago. Don’t know a ton about fishing. Please let me know if anything jumps out as particularly interesting. I’m trying to get my 5 year old her first fish tomorrow and thought I’d open these up and really go through them finally. I imagine all the lures and weights are fine. Any concerns about old hooks? Is it safe to say anything with line attached should be clipped away (snelled hooks no good?) I have to assume this power bait is trash at this point right? Stinks like hell though…might have to give it a try. Found a license stamp in there from 1989.

Thought yall might get a kick out of these prices too!

Those should all work minus the line. Obviously the power bait is no good. But the hooks and lures should be good to go!

  2. My grandpa had that same knife with the fish on it! You’re on the right track, toss the power bait and any old line. The hooks should be fine if they’re not rusted. Those Rooster Tails and Cast Masters are great for trout.

Kastmasters, rooster tails, Mepps spinners… you’ve got some great lures in there. The red plastic device looks to be a Dipsy Diver or similar product that allows you to get to your lures down deep. Usually they have a set depth (20’, 30’, etc) and they can work well for trolling if you don’t have a downrigger.
